Product Description

MP-39 Sunstreaker | Transformers Masterpiece

ToyGeek code: MP39SUNST

trong>On a hot Streak

Joining his twin brother Sideswipe in the Transformers Masterpiece collection, Takara Tomy’s MP-39 Sunstreaker is finally here and ready to join your Masterpiece collection. Just try to keep up with this headstrong autobot during any adventure.

Bearing a striking yellow color scheme and constructed with high quality ABS plastic using modern manufacturing techniques, MP-39 Sunstreaker looks as good and glorious as he did during his G1 days. His updated Masterpiece design looks good in both robot and alt mode. As with most other Masterpiece figures, Sunstreaker comes with a character card and instruction manual covering his simple transformation process.

MP-39 Sunstreaker’s alternate mode lives up to the Masterpiece tradition. Officially licensed by the famous Italian car company Lamborghini, Sunstreaker’s alt mode is a super charged Countach LP500S with a massive chrome plated air intake and retractable headlights. While in alt mode, it’s nearly impossible to see any of Sunstreaker’s robot mode parts, as they are all securely and compactly tucked beneath the chassis of the vehicle. There’s even a slot for his gun on top of the car, while the doors and trunk open as they would on a real car. An anti-aircraft laser cannon in the back of the car’s spoiler really ensures this is an alternate mode the bad guys would do well to avoid. An additional set of side mirrors is included with the figure.

In his robot mode, MP-39 Sunstreaker features superb articulation in his arms, legs, fingers and joints. Among his many included accessories are his trusty flare and laser guns, two alternate face plates, and an alien face mask. Hailing from the classic cartoon episode “Hoist Goes to Hollywood,” the iconic green alien mask is the perfect way to re-enact your favorite scenes from the episode! Finally, an unarticulated miniature of the human character Chip Chase is included, along with his wheelchair.

Sunstreaker may enjoy complaining about the shortcomings of his team, but adding the Masterpiece MP-39 Sunstreaker to your collection won’t give you anything at all to complain about. Get yours today at Toygeek, your source for everything Transformers!

extreme accuracy in both car mode and bot mode.
Highly articulated & mostly solid joints -> posing is fun!
Fun transformation.
Weapon storage on both modes. Hefty.
Playability in car mode
no visible kibble on car mode underside
plentiful accessories

slight paint chipping in certain joints, the face, and the gun. But not too noticeable so far
Backpack a little thick but solid & compact. Personally I do not mind at all.
no diecast (but hefty due to having so many parts)
Pricey (I got mine for $104 and it was worth every penny
Be careful on the chrome parts
The robot mode side-windows on the chest of my figure do not snap in. A little frustrating but doesn't cause any problems.
Butt flap kibble?

Overall I had so much fun with this figure. I'd say I definitely recommend getting one immediately if it's below $120.

Really awesome figure. Looks cool, fun and challenging transformation, and is fun to pose. The only reason it's 4 stars instead of 5 is because there seems to be some chrome chipping off of...somewhere. I can't for the life of me find where it's flaking off. It's obviously very minor though. Great purchase otherwise. Highly recommend!

Wow... is all I can say. Feels great, looks AMAZING, transformation isn't too bad. Only thing else I can think of missing would be the missiles he launches.

Such an amazing figure. Been eyeing him for awhile and glad I decided to pick him up. Bot mode and vehicle mode are both very enjoyable. Worthy add to any collection.

This is an amazing piece of engineering. Complex transformation and wonderful detail to resemble the cartoon figure. The only negative part of the figure is the chrome is easily scratched. Other than that, a great addition to my MP collection.

Thank you TFsource, for such wonderful service.

looks great on both modes cartoon accurate with some additional more matured aesthetics
Backpack is much tidier and compact in hand than it appears in photos
Mostly solid joints and parts
Transformation is involved but not frustrating
Tons of accessories, and alt mode options for display
Super articulated

A little fiddly and hard to always get all of the many moving parts in place for posing
Mine has a foot that keeps falling off. It came off as soon as I opened the box. It clips on with a tension clip but the tolerances aren’t quite right so the tiniest pressure makes it fall off. Keeps it from being a 5 star figure.

Awesome figure. Thanks.

I am very happy with what Takara Tomy did with MP Sunstreaker. He has excellent articulation, very little kibble and a cool-looking athletic build. Perfectly goes with his sporty vehicle mode.
The only real kibble is the robot mode back pack, but even that looks appropriate and practical. I used the rear lights in robot mode to plug in MP Ironhide's thruster effects, and they look phenomenal - as if he is about to LIFT OFF!
The only real con I think he has is the tiny black gun that comes with him but he also has his regular rifle, which looks great. His shoulder rocket launchers look great and his black shins remind me of soccer shinguards. Sunstreaker-styled shinguards next for real life soccer use? Please listen up, Takara. ;-]

I really dig this figure even despite the higher pricepoint Masterpiece figures are going for. Sunstreaker is one of the many Generation 1 Transformers that I didn't get as a kid. His charismatic (ok vain charm) shows through with this addition. His car mode is fresh and the extra features in this mode (for me) knocks it out the park. His robot mode is AWESOME! Sunstreaker is definitely a must have for any Gen 1 completionist. I'm calling this out right now... get ready for Sideswipe 2.0 and hopefully Tracks 2.0, thanks to the new direction of these figures. See you soon Optimus 3.0, Bumblebee 2.0, and yes of course, Hound

I'm not even a sunstreaker fan, but this figure is one of the best MP's takara has ever put out. Looks great, fun transformation, and can pull off the best poses thanks to some wonderful articulation. A must have for any collectors shelf.

Sunstreaker is a nice addition to the Masterpiece collection. He definitely looks more cartoony than most of the other MP cars, but the difference isn't too noticeable on the shelf. Very poseable and full of character. Transformation is scary at parts; the car doors are on TINY joints, and the backpack scrapes against itself. I can't get the car to fully tab together, but I get close enough. Sunstreaker is delicately not my favorite, but a good addition to the collection.

His transformation is a bit tricky at first. Be careful with the doors, my passenger side driver door lost its hold in the lambo door open pose after a few transformations. Okay, so yeah.... he is awesome. I mean, he looks freaking alive. I have him posed next to my MP-36 Megatron (and MP-21G bumble) and it looks AMAZING! Articulation is on point with him, I'm just blown away at the level of detail put into this dude. Seriously, I love all three modes so much (counting the 2 car transformations) that I want to buy 2 more MP39s so I can have all three modes displayed together. The 2 car modes are freaking awesome. This is a nice entry point monetarily for an amazing MP. Again, the transformation is challenging (Go Slow), but your purchase will feel so good in all the modes. And perfect box from TFSource by the way. I have it displayed as well.

This figure is amazing.Great amount of detail in both modes.I love that you can move the headlights.I agree with a previous reviewer that whoever designed this figure is a genius and worked very hard. This is a new standard for Masterpiece transformers.I have a warning though.Be very careful in transforming the side door panels on his legs.DO NOT FORCE THEM.They will break if you apply too kuch pressure. It happened to me and I had to send my toy somewhere to have it fixed.I also have a tip.You can use mp ironhide's jetpack flames for Sunstreaker as his backpack sorta looks like a jetpack.May be better to use in his vehicle mode though

This figure is amazing! Very posable in robot form, bends even at the waist on a nice pivot. In car form he is smooth and clean looking, and has a few looks to play with. The laser canon on the rear where his fin is just like the G1 cartoon. Paintjob is grear to, a must have for avid G1 lovers and collectors.
Great masterpiece!!

This is my favorite, love both modes, great transformation and has great articulation

I generally agree with all the previous reviews. My one critique, and it a personal issue, is his head sculpt. The designer nailed the ‘toon look of Sunny but I liked his original toy look/DW look and would’ve preferred they update his head more like his brother’s. As Butch Walker one sang, “Maybe it’s just me.”

Absolutely fantastic figure which ticks ALL the boxes you could ever want from a true to generation 1 comic/cartoon Sunstreaker. Whoever designed this is a genius. 10/10 from me.

Amazing figure, great level of detail for the Alt Mode, very toon accurate but still updated version of the character, it is almost perfect! If it only had led headlights and radio controlled, that is too much to ask. If you get this one, you won't be dissappointed.

After years of waiting finally we have an original Sunstreaker the best one out of the three that have come out, Sunsurge comes in second place and still is worth keeping if you don't already have him.
When Sunstreaker is in robot mode he reminds me of the G1 cartoon of the 80' s, to me he's the best Masterpiece so far of the line, the only minor gripe I have are his hands they are painted and will chip in time I wish that they could have just used plastic instead of painting the hands-- also the tires I wish that they were rubber but I guess its best if they stay plastic.
Sunstreakers car mode even though he looks a lot like his brother Sideswipe I wish it looked the way it did in the cartoon just to show of the differences of the Lamborghini Countache models.
I recommend this purchase to all who are fans of the show or the toys you will not regret it.
